The Cottage

This beautiful early 18th century cottage was built as a home for the rope makers at the nearby Pymore Mill. It has been thoughtfully refurbished recently to blend the best of modern facilities with the original fabric of the building.

You can choose to light the open fire in the cosy sitting room or just enjoy the very adequate central heating. The kitchen has plenty of cupboards, a modern oven and hob, microwave and washing machine set in the whitewashed stone walls.

Upstairs, one bedroom has a double bed and the other has twin beds: all the beds are amazingly comfortable and the bed linen is good quality to provide that little touch of luxury.

The modern bathroom has a bath with an electric shower over it and thick soft towels are provided.

The Garden
Outside, there is a pretty cottage garden and a parking space for one car. Then, through the magic gate, you will find the secret garden – a large area with rose-covered arbour, large table and 8 chairs and a copper firepit (in the summer). Plenty of space for a game of family football. The garden is maintained by Sally, who will appear on Tuesdays at 9am when the weather allows.

The Local Pub
The Pymore Inn lies across the road and about 100 yards away, where the friendly host provides dreamy food twice a day if you want a rest from the cooking treadmill. There is also a large pub garden for more family fun and games. Public footpaths abound all round the cottage.

The Shops
Shopping is available in Bridport town centre, just a mile away, or at one of the two supermarkets on the edge of town. On Wednesdays and Saturdays, there is a great street market in Bridport – both food and antiques.

The Beach
West Bay beach is only five minutes’ drive away and there are plenty of other beaches within striking distance. Try The Hive Café at the National Trust-owned beach just beyond Burton Bradstock for excellent food in beautiful surroundings. You will find a surprisingly long list of exceptional restaurants in the cottage information file, some of which have Michelin stars.
